That was a big WTF moment for me in the novel too. TS may have allowed for Shrek's escape from the DWK, but the encounter left them completely spent. Mubai/ZZQ's White Tiger is on par with a TD and even it was instantly vaporized by the DWK. It's unlikely they would have survived drowning/exposure, let alone had the power to defeat a powerful sea SB after drifting for 10 days. Also, they didn't wash up on the island--they were taken there/saved by the pirates. These are 'good' pirates lol.

Especially when they had the prow of the ship to sunbathe on, it’s titanic all over again lol

Unfortunately, I think this was another example of, "read the novel instead". If anyone thought the ep seemed rushed and hokey, it's because they had to condense five separate events into one ep: TS taking the doctor as an apprentice; Shrek surviving the wreckage/attacks; TS storming Pearl's HQ, TS subduing an entire army of pirates, and TS/PP's bet at the end. Too bad, because in the novel these encompassed nearly four whole chapters, and aside from XW's next-level damsel in distress, this short arc was pretty fun. Also, it served as another example of how effective TS's hidden weapons can be--there were actually thousands of pirates there. The fact that they only showed a handful robbed any sense of danger, unfortunately.

BTW - they sorta danced around the fact that Pearl wanted to take XW as a wife 😂.

Xiao Wu needs to stop playing and "wake up" soon, she's in the way with this damsel in distress arc. Still, every episode of this brings us closer to the Unrivaled Tang Sect.
